Ingredients:
- 6 cups of peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work best)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 package of refrigerated pie crusts (or make your own if you’re feeling adventurous!)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, flour, and lemon juice. Toss everything together until the apples are well-coated.
- Roll out one of the pie crusts and place it in a 9-inch pie dish.
- Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust, spreading it evenly.
- Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the apples. You can create a lattice top or simply cover the pie completely.
- Trim any excess crust hanging over the edges and crimp the edges to seal the pie.
- Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Optional: Brush the top crust with a little milk or beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Place the pie on a baking sheet (to catch any drips) and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- Let the pie cool for a bit before serving. It’s heavenly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
Enjoy! 🥧❤️
