Grandma’s Secret Apple Pie Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups of peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work best)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 package of refrigerated pie crusts (or make your own if you’re feeling adventurous!)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, flour, and lemon juice. Toss everything together until the apples are well-coated.
  3. Roll out one of the pie crusts and place it in a 9-inch pie dish.
  4. Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust, spreading it evenly.
  5. Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the apples. You can create a lattice top or simply cover the pie completely.
  6. Trim any excess crust hanging over the edges and crimp the edges to seal the pie.
  7. Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  8. Optional: Brush the top crust with a little milk or beaten egg for a golden finish.
  9. Place the pie on a baking sheet (to catch any drips) and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  10. Let the pie cool for a bit before serving. It’s heavenly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

 Enjoy! 🥧❤️
